Destin and birthday

Well we made the long journey to Florida (16 hours there and 14 back). Avery and Jack did great in the car. We rented a "church van" and loaded up. Once we got to Florida the house was great. We had an absolute blast. Avery loved the ocean and I am ready to go back!!

After we got back from Florida we were in full birthday mode. I still can't believe she turned one. We had a wonderful cupcake party complete with a cupcake pinata, bounce house and cotten candy machine. We had atleast 60 friends and family members over and had a blast. We are blessed with wonderful people in our life and with out sweet baby girl!!!

Try this again!

Ok, well it got crazy around here and now i am going to try this again. Totally unrealistic of me to think i could possibly post everyday. So I am going to try to post once a week. Avery is growing like crazy and we are totally enjoying the Summer and all activities that come with it. We have been to birthday parties almost every weekend. Luckily most have been swimming parties, Avery has become very comfortable in the water and really enjoys it. Now if I could just get a tan!
We are 2 weeks out from leaving for Destin Florida. We are going with Diego's college roommates who have now become my friends too. We love both the English and Carrasco families and can't wait to spend a week on the beach!
While getting ready for Destin I am also having to plan Avery's birthday party on the 30th of July. I can't believe she is about to be 1!!! It makes me so sad she isn't a tiny baby anymore, but her (BIG) personality is very entertaining and love to see it grow each day. I am trying to become better about being organized and keep stuff up to date. The last pictures I had printed were her newborn pictures. I am currently working on birthday pictures.

Here is a link of a few little projects I am currently working on.

I realy want to get it all together and have her party planned and done so when we get back from vacation, I am not a stressed out mess! I have a gut feeling this is going to happen anyways!

Wish me luck!

First Day of School..kind of

I have to start on a sad note, my very sweet Great-Grandfather "Honey" passed away. I had not seen him in a long time, he lives in Redding California. I do remember him always being so kind to all of us. So my Granny, my Uncle Don, and my mom headed out on the 31 hour drive( I told them many times they were crazy) to help my Aunt Lana Kay with everything that needed to be taken care of. Since my Mom takes care of Avery everyday and has since I went back from maternity leave, Diego and I were frantically trying to find babysitters. We were able to get a very nice girl from our church to help us several days and tomorrow Avery gets to spend the day at her Aunt Davee and Uncle Albert's house. She not only loves them, she LOVES her cousins. She laughs and plays with them everytime we are all together. However today she went to her First Day of School...kind of...actually it was Mothers Day Out. We kept telling Avery it was her first day of school and even took her picture! I was hesistant when I took her I was scared she might cry and not let go of me. Well that isn't exactly what happened, she practically jumped out of my arms to the lady working the nursery! I was so taken back I didn't even ask her for her name! I guess it is ok that Avery is comfortable with other people but she didn't have to go so eagerly! I was however proud of her and proud of myself being able to just leave and not linger in the hallway.
On the other hand I am trying to get everything together for this CRAZY weekend. Saturday is so jam packed I have it all written down in many places so I don't forget. We have Easter pictures with a REAL bunny, weather permitting, a wedding reception, and then I have a bridal party get together in Irving. I am very excited I am in my best friend Sara's wedding!! The wedding isn't until later in the year but we are going to take every opportunity to celebrate!

Well, hopefully I survive the rest of the week and can handle Avery dumping me on Friday at Mothers Day Out! :(

Let's give it a shot!

After following my sister-in-laws blog for a year I see how great it is to keep a running journal of, well life! I figure I should give it a shot... so here we go! I am sure my family and friends will read this but I will go ahead and formally introduce myself and my family. My name is Jody, I am 26 (still feel like I am 18 most of the time), I have been married to Diego for going on 6 years and we really are each others best friend. We have always enjoyed doing things together and love that we have added Avery Ann to our family to join us on all of our adventures. And yes since she is our first and only child everything we do really is an adventure for us. Diego and I both love traveling and have been able to see wonderful places, we are determined to continue this hobby and strongly believe we WILL still travel even with a 7 month old. We are very blessed and have very involved loving families on both his side and mine. Since I am starting this blog with Avery being 7 months old already I will summarize the first 7 months of being a mom.
Diego and I did not find out what we were going to be having so our baby went by "Guido" the entire time I was pregnant. I know you might ask "Guido"? Well "Peanut" or anything generic just would not work for us! We were SO surprised when Avery was born...A GIRL! Even though my Mom did firmly believe I was having a girl, we were honestly surprised. Avery was a great baby right away, I realize 99% of new parents say this, but she REALLY was a good baby. She slept 8 hours a night at 3 weeks old. She really only cried when she was hungry. On a side note I do realize that since Avery has been so good, if and when we are blessed with baby number 2, I am fully prepared for a horrible baby! The first 7 months have been so fun enjoying Avery and adjusting to having a 100% dependent person in our house! She is amazing and we wouldn't change her for the world. But I would be lieing if I said we have adjusted easily with no problems. It is totally different, we use to only be 15 minutes late to everything we went to (thanks to the lovely trait I get from my mother), now we are atleast 30 minutes late. For the first time ever I didn't have the most luggage when we went to San Antonio! At 5 o'clock we can't get away from work fast enough and that is not to go to happy hour or dinner with friends, it is to get home to see Avery! I have been and continue to be blown away by how much such a little person can change your life in such a wonderful way.

Well, this is my first shot at my new blog. I realize most will not be this long and my spelling will not get any better. I hope that this will be a way to not only document all of the neat things we do as our family grows, but will give me something to laugh at years from now when I look back and let Avery see her mom use to be SO COOL! lol ok that is probably not what she will think, but I will and it sounds good to me now!
